Why Teflon?
Here’s the thing about most plastics: they hate acids. The Trade-off
Now, there is a catch. Because we’ve wrapped everything in this protective layer, you’re adding a bit of thermal resistance. You’ll notice the lamps take a few seconds longer to heat up compared to bare-wire versions. It’s a slight lag, but honestly? It’s a price worth paying to make sure the building stays standing. We’ve built these to take a beating from chemical fumes while keeping the halogen filament tucked away safely. Just a heads-up: keep a close eye on your power supply. Make sure the voltage matches the lamp specs perfectly. If you over-volt these sealed units, pressure builds up inside, and that’s how you end up with a cracked quartz envelope.
A Few Tips for the Install
When you’re wiring these into your line, do yourself a favor and double-check the seals at the feed-throughs. **Be careful.**If you nick the Teflon jacket during installation, the protection is gone. It’s like a puncture in a raincoat—once it’s breached, the chemicals get in. Use the specified glands to keep that pressure seal tight, and you’ll be good to go.
